Autumn Spice Cookies #SundaySupper

  • Cookies:
  • 1 cup (4.75 ounces) all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (2.35 ounces) confectioners sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Glaze:
  • ¾ cup (3.20 ounces) confectioners sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • dash of ground cloves
  • dash of ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  1. For the cookies:
  2. Whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Set aside.
  3. Place the butter, confectioners sugar and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Beat until creamy.
  4. Add the dry ingredients and blend until mixed together.
  5. Form into a log roughly 2" in diameter and wrap in waxed paper. Refrigerate until the dough is firm, several hours or overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  7. Slice the dough into ¼" rounds. Place the cookies slices onto the prepared pan.
  8. Bake at 350° for 16 - 18 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely.
  9. For the glaze:
  10. Combine the confectioners sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and milk into a bowl. Stir until smooth.
  11. Pour the glaze into a quart size freezer bag. Seal the bag and cut a small piece off one of the bottom corners.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the cookies.
