  • 16 tablespoons (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ cups chocolate chips
  • chocolate chunks – 12 ounces or more
  1. Line three baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350°.
  2. Cream the butter, sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Blend in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and turn the mixer on/off so that the dry ingredients do not go flying all over the kitchen. Lastly, add the chocolate chips.
  3. Using a small cookie dough scoop, drop the cookies onto the prepared baking pans. Bake in a 350° oven for 12-14 minutes, rotating the pans top to bottom and front to back halfway through.
  4. Immediately after taking the cookies out of the oven, carefully place chocolate chunks onto the tops of the cookies.
  5. Cool completely, if you can wait that long. Store in the freezer.
