Halloween Candy Ice Cream

Ingredients
  • 1 - 28 ounce container Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream
  • 2 cups leftover Halloween candy that has been chopped into big pieces
Instructions
  1. For the ice cream:
  2. Allow the ice cream to soften in the refrigerator for 45-60 minutes.
  3. Spoon the ice cream into a food processor that has been fitted with the dough blade. Sprinkle the candy pieces over the ice cream.
  4. Pulse on/off initially and then leave the processor on briefly until the candy has been mixed into the ice cream. Do not overprocess or the candy will be broken into tiny pieces.
  5. Transfer back to the ice cream carton. Cover the top with plastic wrap, making sure that it touches the entire surface of the ice cream. Place the lid on top of the plastic wrap and return to the freezer to set, 2-3 hours.
  6. Betsy's tidbits:
  7. Any flavor of ice cream will do. I recommend using one that does not have mix-ins included.
  8. If using a pint size container, soften in the refrigerator for 30 – 45 minutes and mix in 1¼ cups candy.
Notes
Additional time is needed to soften the ice cream before processing and then to allow the ice cream to set once it is mixed with the candy.
