Brownie Batter Truffles #SundaySupper
What do you think of when you read, Brownie Batter Truffles? Does your mind go where mine does to images of licking the bowl of the brownie batter and then dipping that batter into chocolate?
I am someone who raised my kids telling them that they can’t eat the brownie batter because it has raw eggs that can make them sick. Then, when my kids weren’t looking, I would sneak a lick or two of the batter, because I have the will power of a two year old.
Fast forward to the Sunday Supper group page posting of an upcoming post. Here I discovered that Davidson’s Safest Choice® Eggs was not only one of the Food and Wine Conference sponsors but, also, the sponsor of today’s blog post. I was delighted to apply to participate, only AFTER I did my homework.
Davidson’s Safest Choice® Eggs really are safe for eating uncooked. Their eggs are pasteurized to eliminate the risk of Salmonella bacteria and viruses like Avian influenza. The pasteurization process is really fascinating and I encourage you to check it out.
It took less than 30 seconds to decide that I had to make Brownie Batter Truffles for today’s Sunday Supper event. The sheer joy of being able to eat an entire truffle made with brownie batter that has raw egg that is safe to eat is almost more than I can handle…almost! I guess I won’t have to sneak those bowl-licking spoonfuls of batter anymore thanks to Davidson’s Safest Choice® Eggs.

Brownie Batter Truffles #SundaySupper | Print |
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 12 tablespoons (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 4 Davidson's Safest Choice® Eggs
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, melted
- Microwave the chocolate and butter together until melted. Set aside.
- Whisk together the flour and baking powder. Set aside.
- Place eggs and pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Mix on low speed for 20 seconds. Add sugar. Mix on low until combined. While the mixer is on, add ½ of the chocolate mixture. Combine. Add ½ of the flour mixture. Alternate again until the remaining chocolate and flour mixture have been thoroughly incorporated. Add vanilla.
- Transfer the batter to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the batter. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
- Use a small cookie dough scoop to scoop out the truffles. Freeze until the balls are set.
- Once the truffles are frozen, roll them between the palms of your hands to smooth them out.
- Line another baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Working quickly, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate and place it on the clean baking sheet.
- Return to the freezer to set.
- Store in the freezer. Brownie Batter Truffles are best served cold.

Droooool. That is all!
Family Foodie,
That is PLENTY…and PERFECT!
Oh. My. God. I am making these for my husband’s birthday next month. I absolutely love them. No, wait. I can’t wait that long. I’m sure I can come up with an event to make these for sooner than that. Maybe just because the sun came out. Seriously love these, Betsy.
Susan @ The Wimpy Vegetarian,
Thanks so much. No need to wait…the sun coming out is the PERFECT reason to celebrate!
These are fabulous! I would probably eat way too many!
Brianne,
Isn’t that why you have The Bug??? 😉
These look like they could melt in your mouth! Melt in MY mouth….
Constance,
You got that right…they have to head to your house because I have not stopped eating them in mine!!!
These look just incredible! I would have absolutely zero self control around these!
Alida,
Thank you and I am right there with you…absolutely ZERO self control!!
Oh, my goodness, Betsy! I do declare you have outdone yourself in yumminess and elegance =) Good info and good news about the eggs =)
Kim a/k/a The Ninja Baker,
Thank you. Isn’t it great to know that we can eat our batters without the worry?!?! 🙂
Raw brownie batter is always so luscious looking that you sometimes would rather eat than than the finished product. Looks like now we can 🙂
Shaina,
SOOOO true and soooo exciting! 🙂
Haha, “the willpower of a two year old” describes my attitude toward any type of brownie, in general. I NEVER allow myself to make them (unless I’m immediately leaving to take them to a party), because they are my kryptonite. I mean, if kryptonite was really that thing you couldn’t get enough of. If they are in the house, I just…can’t…stop…thinking…about….them. Maybe, since these truffles are tiny versions of brownies, they’ll have less mind control over me?
Foxes Love Lemons,
Too funny! Actually, because the Brownie Batter Truffles are SO much smaller than brownies, you can really eat them without any guilt! 😉
Brownie batter sounds pretty awesome! These look great!
Amy,
Thanks so much!
My mouth is watering for these! I’ve looked several times at my stores but haven’t ever seen them! 🙁
Krystle,
Try the store locator button on their website. If you don’t have any luck, tweet Davidson’s Safest Choice…they are FABULOUS at responding!!
Mmmm, they look amazing. I’ll have to do my research though, because I still get paranoid…at least if I’m going to eat it in those amount 😉
Adelina,
I think that is a very wise decision. Please check out Davidson’s Safest Choice® Eggs website. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out to them to ask for more answers.
THEN, sit back and ENJOY!!
The batter is the best part and these truffles are the besets of them all!
Susan,
Thanks so much! I do love eating the batter!!!
